The Beatles already made their mark on the Billboard charts long ago. If they never appeared on another one again, they’d still forever rank among the most successful acts ever on the tallies. The Fab Four doesn’t have to rely on past successes, though, as listeners in America continue to send them back to the competitive lists from time to time, and they never stay away for very long.
The rockers return to several charts in the U.S. this week. They bounce back onto a pair of rankings with what has turned out to be their most successful collection of the hits that made them superstars all around the world.
1, The Beatles’ famous compilation, finds its way onto the Billboard 200 once more. This week, the lengthy set lands at No. 192.
The title also barely breaks back onto the Top Rock & Alternative Albums tally. On that list, which ranks the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs in the U.S. that can be classified as rock or alternative, 1 settles at No. 48 on the 50-spot tally.
Luminate reports that in the past tracking week, 1 moved another 8,300 equivalent units. Of that sum, a little more than 400 are pure purchases. Streaming activity made up most of the rest of those thousands of units, as Americans are still pressing play on many of The Beatles’ most famous tunes.
1 has now lived on the Billboard 200 for 554 weeks. The compilation continues to put distance between itself and The Beatles’ next-longest-charting hit album, Abbey Road. That bestseller has spent 491 turns on the list—which means that 1 is winning by more than a year.
