DALLAS — Ever thought about owning rare photos of the Beatles during their heyday, King Edward VII of Britain’s grand piano or a Rolex submariner previously owned by an award-winning filmmaker and diver? An auction coming up in Dallas could make it a reality.
Among the pieces included in the auction are 23 rare photos of the Fab Four taken by royal lensman Tom Murray July 28, 1968, including the negatives and copyright. The photos were taken during a shoot organized by Paul McCartney during the recording of the White Album in various locations around London. Ten-plus years ago, Christie’s appraised the collection, which has been widely featured in magazines around the world, at $1.3-1.5 million.
