The Beatles Chart A New Hit Single In Their Home Country

The Beatles have all but completely stopped releasing new material. The remaining two members did reunite to drop one last single, “Now and Then,” in late 2023, but they swear that was the last time the band would produce anything completely original.

While they may not be writing and recording any songs or albums, The Beatles still manage to score chart debuts from time to time. Sometimes, the group sends one of their older projects to a ranking it’s never reached before. In other instances, archival material is released in some special manner, and fans of the rockers buy it in large enough numbers to make it a success.

The latter has happened again in the U.K. this week, as The Beatles are back on the charts. As several of their compilations find space on a few rankings, the group scores a new hit on a singles list with a collection that die-hard supporters of the Fab Four were clearly eager to hear—and buy.

“From Us To You 1 December 1963” debuts on one ranking in the United Kingdom this frame. The project, which is actually more of an EP than a single—at least in the way that most people today would think of a “single”—arrives on the Official Physical Singles chart at No. 91.

The Beatles claim one of at least a dozen new entrants on the Official Physical Singles chart this week. Theirs is the lowest-ranking debut, and they come in behind new smashes and years-old cuts that finally reach the tally from artists such as Selena Gomez, Bruno Mars, Addison Rae, and Bastille.

The same ranking is also inundated with returning favorites. Thirty-four tracks return to the Official Physical Singles chart this time around, with some musicians pushing multiple tunes to the list of the top-selling individual songs (and very short projects) on any physical format in the country. Some of the loftiest re-entries come from stars like the Pixies, Biffy Clyro, Kylie Minogue, and Harry Styles.

The Beatles manage a very odd coincidence on the Official Physical Singles chart. As “From Us To You 1 December 1963” debuts, they bring one of their other bestsellers not only back to the same ranking, but to the position that’s just one rung below their new smash. “From Us To You – 2 March 1964” is back at No. 92.

“From Us To You 1 December 1963” features five tracks, including well-known songs by the band like “I Saw Her Standing There” and “From Us To You,” a slightly reworked take on another classic. The collection of EPs is built around recordings of BBC radio shows from the ‘60s that were helmed by the musicians themselves.
