Former bandmates of The Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, performed live together in a surprise move in Los Angeles.

The performance occurred as part of McCartney’s final show of his North American solo tour which started in early May.

Joe Walsh, of Eagles fame, was also invited to the stage later in the set but it was the inclusion of Beatles drummer Starr which fans unable to believe their luck as the surprise guest of the evening entered the stage.

As Ringo entered the stage, the two embraced and said: “I love you, man” before the drummer took to his position.

Performing at the huge LA Dodger Stadium, McCartney rolled into a rendition of ‘Birthday’ as the encore opening song before Starr was invited on. The Beatles duo performed ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ as well as a longer version of ‘Helter Skelter’.

Starr, who could not hold back his enormous smile while performing, stood up at the end of the two songs and three his drumsticks into the crowd. As he walked off the stage, the crowd chanted his signature phrase: “Peace and love,” amid huge applause.

Following the rendition of ‘The End’ with Joe Walsh, McCartney addressed the crowd by saying: “Farewell to you guys. Farewell to America. Only one thing left to be said: we’ll see you next time.”
