Brian Wilson, Flaming Lips, Weezer members and others also took part

A new live album/film is set to be released documenting a special tribute concert held last year in honour of late Beatle George Harrison.

George Fest took place at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre in September and also featured cover versions and performances from the likes of The Killers‘ Brandon Flowers, The Strokes‘ Nick Valensi, Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, The Flaming Lips, Spoon‘s Britt Daniel, Perry Farrell, Norah Jones, Weezer’s Brian Bell, Cold War Kids, “Weird Al” Yankovich, TV host Conan O’Brien and more.

‘George Fest: A Night To Celebrate The Music Of George Harrison’ will be released on February 26, 2016, coming out on CD, vinyl, DVD, Blu-ray and digital download. See the full tracklisting below.

All proceeds from the gig went to Sweet Relief, a charity for musicians struggling financially due to illness or disability.

Meanwhile, a previously unseen George Harrison letter, which reveals that The Beatles scrapped plans to record at Stax Studios with producer Jim Stewart, recently sold for $20,000 (£13,000). The letter was written in 1966 to Atlanta DJ Paul Drew as The Beatles began work on ‘Revolver’.
